Welcome to Little Lake Psychiatry and Therapy Services PLLC!   My goal is to provide excellent psychiatric care to people of any race, background, gender identity, sexual orientation, size, or abilities.

I am a board certified psychiatrist with over 16 years of experience treating a wide range of mental health conditions.  I completed medical school as well as my Psychiatry specialty training (residency) at Michigan State University.  I chose Michigan State's Osteopathic medical school because of its emphasis on understanding and treating patients as a whole person, not just a set of symptoms or a diagnosis.  This approach becomes even more essential when providing psychiatric treatment!

Our minds and our lives are complex. Many factors, both extrinsic (such as our backgrounds, families, environment, stressors) and intrinsic (such as our genetics, neurobiology, hormones, physical health, etc) impact us and our well-being.  These factors also affect each other!  Fortunately, this complexity also provides many pathways to understand and treat our problems.  There are many entry points to the path to feeling whole, connected and well.

My goal is to work with you to come to a shared understanding of your history, your challenges, and your strengths and to personalize a sound, evidence based treatment plan to help you heal and thrive. Treatment recommendations may include medication when appropriate, psychotherapy, as well as other integrative approaches.  I can provide psychiatric evaluation and management in collaboration with your therapist or physician.   I also offer psychotherapy services myself using a range of psychotherapy techniques including psychodynamic, interpersonal, supportive and cognitive behavioral therapy, among others.

The first step is to give us a call at (734)404-8188 or fill out our contact form via this website. Please include information about what you have been experiencing, what services you would think would be helpful, any mental health treatment history (including medications) and medical history. If you feel you are in urgent or emergent need for help, particularly if you feel unsafe in any way, please instead seek assistance via the ER/911 or the suicide hotline 988.  Otherwise, we will get back with you, usually within 2-5 days to offer a phone consultation to help determine how we can help.  If we do not offer the services that you are likely to need based on review of your information, you can expect that we will let you know and offer any additional suggestions/referral sources that we can to help you move forward to get the services you may need.
Our services are provided on a private pay, fee for service basis to be paid on the day services are rendered.  This may be done via cash, check, or credit card.  We are able to keep a credit card on file and bill it after each visit for you automatically, if you prefer.
We do not currently participate with insurance carriers. Though some prefer not to submit any information to their insurance company, we are happy to provide you with a statement that will contain the information you will need to submit an out-of-network claim to your insurance company for reimbursement, if you have coverage for out-of-network visits.   You may also use these statements to document your costs if you pay directly from your HSA or reimburse yourself from your HSA.
Fees vary depending on time/complexity of the visit and services rendered.  General guidelines/ranges are below.  We are happy to provide you more specific estimates based on your personalized care after your initial consultation or at any change in anticipated services.

Initial psychiatric evaluation/consultation $280
*includes review of new patient information, diagnostic evaluation and treatment recommendations; additional paperwork or report writing if agreed to during evaluation would incur related costs

Medication Review $100-200
*based on complexity (number of problems addressed, medical decision making) and/or time

Combined Medication Review with Psychotherapy $180-300**
*as above regarding medication review, with a significant portion of time spent in psychotherapy/counseling

Psychotherapy without medication/medical management
30 minutes $100
45 minutes $150
60 minutes $200

**note that even if medications are not prescribed in a given session, discussion/consideration of risks/benefits of given medications or of medical conditions that may be contributing to symptoms indicate a combined session

Everything you need should be included in the new patient on-line paperwork that will be available to you through the portal.  It is particularly important to indicate all medications you are taking.  It is also okay to bring your medication bottles with you to your first appointment if this is helpful to you.  Completing the Release of Information forms for your previous psychiatrist/psychiatric provider, therapist, primary care physician are particularly helpful in understanding your history and coordinating your care.
Either!   Patients may have the option of in person or telehealth visits at this time, with approval of the provider.  Telehealth visits are accessed through our patient portal in Luminello once scheduled.  There may be clinical reasons that an in-person visit may be preferable to provide best care.  Conversely, based on clinical status, ever-changing Covid rates of transmission, as well as patient vaccination status, a telehealth visit may be preferable to provide care safely.  These would be discussed at the time of scheduling.
